I went to blood test last week, the result show that my CEA when up from 500 to 800 and my CA 19.9 when down from 50 to 41. What does that means? Is my cancer under control or it is not? The doctor advice me to go for CT scan in dec. But I don't feel like going.
My last scan is in sept, I wish to do 6 months once, but the doctor say is a litter dangerous. She advice me if anything wrong in CT scan u can still control with chemo but don't wait until it is worst. To me, if no pain I don't what to do any scan at all even the blood test.
Can anyone help me?
My sharing from past experience as follows :-
ReplyDeleteCEA increase from 500 to 800 , it is more than 50% increase. It can be due to many reason and one of it is increase of cancer activity. But, it may not be 100% due to cancer activity. So, not to worry too much , as many doctor not taking CEA or any tumour marker as indication of cancer progression.
Doctor will check on the CT scan report to confirm the changes of cancer tumor and whether any new tumour.
This is the reason why your doctor ask you to take CT Scan.
It is normal or standard procedure for CT scan every 3 months, until patient condition stable .
My personal opinion is that it is good to have CT scan every 3 months until you know how's the tumor behave , and with the understanding from doctor , you then plan for 6 months once CT scan.
No pain does not means everything in order.
With God bless, I am not suffer pain until now, but, my tumour have increase in size from about 3 to 4 cm in mid 2008 , to about 11 cm in August 2011.
Mistake that I may have make is I rest from chemo too long, as now I notice that 6 months without chemo , tumour size remain unchange, once over 6 months, it start to grow.
Anyway, it is what happen to me and every patient have different situation. So, close monitoring is important.

ReplyDeleteI have a little which I think I could share with you which I think you may consider.
Actually nowadays there is what we called alternative treatment other than doctors chemo therapy and other radio therapy. I heard and also seen people who got cancer heal. And MOST important my father was also diagnosis with stage IV stomach cancer. we only found out roughly 3 weeks back. But maybe because of what we called "kuei ren" a lot of help came along and introduce different kinds of medicine including the PORCUPINE DATE which is same with you.
Getting back, we are using a to the GERSON therapy to help my father. This kind of therapy is to cleanse, detoxify and let our own organs do the cleansing and building the immune system to reverse the cancer's cell in brief. Of course its not that easy, luckily our family all are supportive enough to help out to give him that therapy cause all he could was taking juice as there is blockage in the small intestine. So with the early weeks he was getting week. But only about 5 days of the therapy he is passing out lots of shits which smells really bad and indeed the energy is improving and also seen progress.
